Properties of Paper and its Quality

Choosing paper for the office, at first glance, it seems not too difficult, but a wrong decision can lead to waste, and to the deterioration of the image of the firm.

Physical properties:

Density (in g/m2) - copiers and printers work best with paper that is 80-90 g/m2, although most modern devices can operate with paper of different densities;

Thickness (in mm) - depends on the density and compaction of paper. The higher the thickness, the more restrictive is the paper;

Hardness - the resistance bending force. Paper may be too loose or, conversely, too rigid. This paper is poorly served and causes a jam;

Opacity (in %) - double-sided printing, it is important that the paper was not transparent. Usually, the smaller the density of paper, so it is transparent;

Roughness and smoothness - affects the quality of image transfer. On rough paper, toner can be fixed properly, it is erased or flaking;

Direction of fibers - to the copier or printer to work better, fibers must be oriented along the long edges of the paper;

Humidity (%) - the optimal value of paper moisture is equal to 4.5%, which provides the necessary electrical resistance and reduces twisting;

Curl - bond paper should not have a residual deflection after the printing process. On paper curl effect high moisture content, exposure to high temperatures and pressures;

Brightness - affects the contrast between the image and the paper that makes the picture more readable.


Chemical and electrical factors:

Clean the surface of the sheet - external pollution associated with dust, formed as a result of poor-quality paper sizing, and the interior caused by the chemicals - the consequences of poor process;

Tar - limited to a paper in order to keep unchanged the shape of the leaf, so the resin tends to evaporate under the heat.
