Paper Bills

Bills are one of the letters that we usually receive everyday. It is the kind of letter that we often find ourselves to recent receiving such kind of paper. Most of us would just throw it directly or even tear it into pieces when we are all furious if it happened to arrive at a wrong time. Such consumer behavior is one reason why some people are suggesting totally eradicate paper-based billing and simply send the bills electronically, through email or through any other virtual medium.

The topic on paper-based billing has always been one of the many simple yet very debatable topics not only in the country, but in the whole world as well. It might be appear to be simple but if you would really delve on the matter on hand, you would realize that there are many implications on choosing as to whether we should opt for paper bills or paper less billing, For most of us, we could hardly picture the gravity of the situation since we are unaware of bothe the direct and indirect costs of both sides.

Now to better understand the picture, here are the three categories of costs when comparing traditional paper-based billing versus full on-line or digital billing.
At first some of us would think that a paper-based billing is not that expensive at all since it only involves the cost for paper, envelopes, ink and postage. But that’s not all, there are also indirect charges that comes with paper-based billing like the required manpower for handling calls and doing the accounting. Also, not to mention the bulk of bills that is undelivered and the costs that comes with storing these bills. Indeed, if you are to look at it that way then you could just see how expensive paper-based billing could be!

And for a small company, that could be a pretty serious expenditure to consider. But then again, the question here is not about if it is expensive or not, the main argument here is, as to whether the money that we are investing on paper-based billing is all worth it?

Let’s face it, the internet has always been virtual. The electronic way of doing things is not that accurate if we are to do things the way that we would normally do it. Like that in a paper-based billing system. If in a paper-based billing system we are already encountering some problems on getting some people account for their bills, debts and others, what more if we would do it digitally?

What proof could we have that they have received the bills if we are to send it through email? Although admittedly, the internet has been very useful to us these days, it is not without any faults or flaws. There have always been some glitches when it comes to communicating through the internet. We have always encountered how the electronic mail is not fool-proof. We have experienced for so many times when the e-mail that we are to send did not reach the person concerned.
